When you're building a deck with wood or composite lumber, supplementing nails, screws, and other traditional fasteners with construction adhesive is an easy way to get stronger, longer-lasting results.
Here are four commonly overlooked deck components and how construction adhesives make them better.
1. Stairs
Apply 1/4-inch continuous line (bead) of LIQUID NAILS Subfloor & Deck Construction Adhesive (LN-902) to the framing/stringers before nailing and screwing in the steps.
2. Composite Lumber Skirting, Baseboards, and Fascia Boards
In order to accommodate the increased movement between skirting, baseboards, and fascia boards, use LIQUID NAILS Fuze*It All Surface Construction Adhesive (LN-2000). Apply a 1/4-inch bead of adhesive to each framing piece prior to installation with nails or screws.
3. Railings
For railings, use LIQUID NAILS Subfloor & Deck Construction Adhesive with nails and screws to provide better long-term durability.
4. Decorative Caps and Trim
For decorative caps and trim, use LIQUID NAILS Fuze*It All Surface Construction Adhesive to minimize the need to use fasteners.
When building a deck using any of these construction adhesives, you can achieve a sturdier deck with no squeaky boards, and you won’t need as many nails leading to less dangerous nails popping.
Please refer to the Product Label, Technical Data Sheet (TDS) or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for safety and detailed application instructions.
